Interview Coaching

The interview component of the college application & job interview process can be intimidating for some students. The YCC Inc. is here to help students understand the process and how to best prepare.

Encouragement, guidance and preparation will help students feel more confident when walking into an interview. The session consists of a ½ hour interview and 30 minutes to evaluate and discuss strategies. The student may also request to have the interview filmed. (Filming subject to availability.)

Interviewing Prep (employment, college, fellowships or special programs)
Interviewing skills are one of the most important keys in landing that job or opportunity. The YCC Inc. interviewing coaching gives clients 3 Forty-Five minute- sessions and 15 minute recap, to practice and develop skills. The Interviewing Prep helps seekers craft their story, develop tools to verbally express their skills and qualifications, and understand how best to respond to the tough questions.

Additionally, the YCC Inc. Interviewing Prep covers many interviewing techniques including: credential, experience, case, behavioral, competency, open, and hypothetical. A candidate may be asked any of these questions by an interviewer. The ‘STAR’ approach for answering questions will be taught:

  • Situation – describe the situation
  • Task - what dilemma or problem did you face and what specifically did you do
  • Action – what action did you take to rectify the problem
  • Result – what was the result of your action
By understanding the various interviewing types, candidates will be prepared and able to present themselves to managers. The client will receive a fact intake sheet ahead of time so the interviewer will know exactly what is needed and what type of questions should be asked. At the conclusion of the counseling session and/or mock interview the client will receive a 10 min recap/evaluation & a written report.
